After completing this project, there are three details we’d absolutely include again: • Heated floors for added comfort on cooler mornings • An instant hot water system for convenience • A hidden in-drawer outlet that keeps countertops clear These aren’t the features that typically make the photos, but they’re the ones that continue to improve how the space functions every day. This primary bath was ready for a fresh start. Th This primary bath was ready for a fresh start. The original space felt dated and disconnected with multiple competing finishes, an oversized built-in tub that limited flexibility, and flooring that became slippery when wet. While the room offered generous square footage, it wasn’t fully supporting how the homeowners wanted to use and experience the space. Inspired by the colors and textures of Hawaii’s sandy beaches and warm volcanic rock, the redesign focused on creating a more cohesive and restorative environment. The new layout features a sculptural freestanding Barcelona tub from @victoria_albert_baths, expansive walk-in shower, custom wood cabinetry by @plankedwoodworking with layered textures and a calming palette designed to support everyday routines while elevating the overall experience of the space. Returning to school for interior design after year Returning to school for interior design after years of working in the homebuilding industry has reinforced for me that good design doesn’t begin with trends or finished photographs.
