This week’s palette, Weathered Coast, is inspired by the quiet beauty of the shoreline. Deep blue stone, warm oak, soft neutrals, and layered textures come together to create a palette that feels grounded, relaxed, and timeless.

Material palettes are about creating harmony between color, texture, finish, and natural materials to establish the feeling of a space before the first piece is ever installed.

There is something energizing about stepping into a space where great design is celebrated.

My recent visit to the @visualcomfort showroom in St. Johns Town Center was exactly that. Beyond the breathtaking lighting, I appreciated the knowledgeable guidance from the team, the thoughtful conversations, and the opportunity to explore beautifully curated collections.

The most valuable features in this bathroom remodel aren’t the ones you can see.

After completing this project, there are three details we’d absolutely include again:

• Heated floors for added comfort on cooler mornings
• An instant hot water system for convenience
• A hidden in-drawer outlet that keeps countertops clear

These aren’t the features that typically make the photos, but they’re the ones that continue to improve how the space functions every day.

Sometimes the most impactful design solutions are hiding in plain sight.

This oversized coat closet near the garage wasn’t supporting the way the family lived. By reimagining the existing space, we created a custom drop zone with integrated seating, concealed storage, and room for everyday essentials.

The result is a space that feels more organized, more intentional, and easier to live with every day.

And yes, Chloe has already claimed her favorite seat. 🐾

Color influences how a space feels. When palettes align with the purpose of a room, they can reinforce comfort, focus, restoration, or connection. This primary bath was ready for a fresh start. Th

This primary bath was ready for a fresh start.

The original space felt dated and disconnected with multiple competing finishes, an oversized built-in tub that limited flexibility, and flooring that became slippery when wet. While the room offered generous square footage, it wasn’t fully supporting how the homeowners wanted to use and experience the space.

Inspired by the colors and textures of Hawaii’s sandy beaches and warm volcanic rock, the redesign focused on creating a more cohesive and restorative environment.

The new layout features a sculptural freestanding Barcelona tub from @victoria_albert_baths, expansive walk-in shower, custom wood cabinetry by @plankedwoodworking with layered textures and a calming palette designed to support everyday routines while elevating the overall experience of the space.

Thoughtful design isn’t just about updating finishes. It’s about creating spaces that function better, feel better, and support the people who live in them.

Returning to school for interior design after years of working in the homebuilding industry has reinforced for me that good design doesn’t begin with trends or finished photographs. It begins with understanding how spaces are constructed, how proportions are developed, and how small details shape the way a home ultimately feels to live in.

Building @wellhavendesign while continuing my education has deepened my appreciation for the discipline behind good design and reinforced how much experience, observation, and technical understanding matter.
